The Mouth That Roared
Micky is the mouthpiece. He’s been a Downholer longer than anyone and remembers every guy who ever played on the team. He sees no difference between how a beer league team prepares for a game and how an NHL team prepares for a game. Micky obviously never played at a high level. But to Micky, it’s all about perspective. “Why should we take our game any less seriously than they do? Aren't we trying to win also?”
Micky wants a break-out play. He wants a power play strategy. He doesn’t know why guys show up only five minutes before a game. Despite his rah-rah, the team has never amounted to anything in all the time he’s been a member.
Trigger uses "hockey speak" in every aspect of his life. His students and others are often confused by his rants about "going to the net" and "never shoot it up the middle in our own end" etc. Trigger is also ultra-organized. Trigger wants regular team meetings and spends a lot of time away from the rink thinking about line combinations, the power play, penalty killing and recruiting of new and better players. He wants team jackets, hats and sweatpants. Trigger is always chewing gum and is always one of the first people to the rink and wants "chalk talks" before every game.
And that's just annoying as shit.
